This is the standard southern-Cappadocia day — the “Green Tour” loop — run by the highest-rated high-volume operator on the route, and it is the reason most first-time visitors reach Derinkuyu at all. One price covers hotel pickup, every museum ticket, a Turkish lunch and a licensed guide, so there is nothing to buy at the gate and no logistics to solve yourself.
The day is built around the underground city. You spend about an hour below ground at Derinkuyu with a guide who explains the ventilation shafts, the rolling stone doors and the rooms you would otherwise walk straight past, then continue to the Ihlara Valley for a walk along the canyon floor and to Selime Monastery, the largest rock-cut religious complex in Cappadocia.
For a first visit it is the sensible pick: the group is capped at a manageable size, the pace is brisk but not rushed, and the value is genuine — the combined entry fees alone come close to the ticket price of the tour.
Hotel pickup and drop-off in Göreme and the nearby Cappadocia villages is included in this tour, so there is no separate meeting point to find. Bring a light layer for the constant 10–15°C underground and flat, grippy shoes for the carved staircases. There are no toilets inside the underground city, so use the facilities in the town first.
“The underground city was the clear highlight; the guide had a decade on this route and kept a group of eight engaged all day.”

“Great value — the entrance fees alone nearly matched the tour price, and lunch and comfortable transport were included.”

“Loved the day, but the underground stop felt rushed at about 30 minutes when it deserved longer.”
